Joe Tibbetts in conversation with Yvonne Mosquito, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, West Midlands Police Authority.

Elected in 1996 as Councillor for Nechells, one of the most deprived wards in Birmingham, she has served as a Executive Member of Birmingham City Council Cabinet, chair of the Labour Group and Deputy Chief Whip.

Yvonne Mosquito was formerly Vice Chair of West Midlands Police Authority before becoming Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.

Having started her career in community work in Birmingham many years ago, she still remains passionate about improving the quality of lives for those most disadvantaged and campaigning for equal rights. Yvonne talks to Joe about the kind of leadership required to progress equalities for women and black and minority ethnic people in the police service and why people should get to leadership positions on merit.
