Ben Gowland CEO Nene CCG and Joe Tibbetts publisher of Health Care Innovation Daily discuss Simon Stevens' five year view of how to save the NHS in language easily understood by non experts.

RealityBites - The National Healthcare Conversation is a weekly podcast of a discussion between Ben Gowland and Joe Tibbetts, focussing on UK healthcare and health and care services.

Ben Gowland is the CEO of NHS Nene Clinical Commissioning Group and formerly Director of Service Improvement and Quality at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. Joe Tibbetts is the publisher of HealthCare Innovation Daily - an Information Daily online title - and is the founder of the INSOMNIACS group on LinkedIn.

RealityBites No.10 is the first of three ten minute podcasts in which Gowland and Tibbetts discuss the Five Year Forward View just published by NHS England but prepared in collaboration with the Care Quality Commission, Health Education England, Monitor, Public Health England and the Trust Development Authority.

The NHS Five Year Forward View more or less tells the next government follow our plan or risk losing the whole thing. If these changes are implemented every person in the country will feel the effects and if they are not implemented, we are told, we will feel the effects only more so.

If you don't have the time to read a 38 page document with an extra page added to explain all the abbreviations then you could do worse than join Tibbetts and Gowland while they try to get to the bottom of what is being said and what it actually means to the rest of us.

Ben Gowland writes a weekly column published every Monday morning in The Information Daily http://www.theinformationdaily.com/ben-gowland
